When people imagine that someone they know is dealing with a flooded house, they might jump to conclusions of rising water levels of rivers and lakes if it has been raining a lot, or if severe weather strikes such as with a hurricane. While these scenarios are valid examples of how someone would get a flooded house, Trinity residents need to also be aware that house flooding is caused by more common explanations then you might think. Usually it is caused because of an unexplained failure or malfunction, but it can also simply be the result of someone’s carelessness.
Appliance Failures
It is probably more common for a home to be flooded by a modern amenity not acting the way it was designed as opposed to a severe natural disasters striking. It is not uncommon for a simple busted pipe to cause the beginnings of a flooded house. Trinity residents should periodically be checking the hoses and pipes attached to water appliances such as sinks, dish washers, and washers for clothes. Over time wear and tear of your appliances plus changes in temperature, humidity, and atmospheric pressure can cause unseen problems for your devices. Replacing piping on occasions is nowhere near as expensive as full-fledged water damage restoration and clean up.
Forgetfulness and Preoccupation
It is also not uncommon for someone to simply flood their house because they forgot that they were doing something with water. Often times you will hear of stories where people are working outside and leave their hose on, or they are drawing a bath for their child and simply got distracted by something else, causing a flooded house. Trinity residents should be aware that if something like this happens to them, that they should act as quickly as possible to prevent further water damage. Standing water can be more destructive than fires or tornadoes if it is not attended to.
